Hani arrived Canada not having a place to stay. He went from one place to another hoping he would find a place to live. Although he found a place but was told to share the room with a boy like him. Unfortunately, his roommate stole from him because he was new and that prompted Hani to be left with nothing to care for himself.

“It was difficult to enter society because I didn’t know the country, I didn’t know anything,"

"The first three months was a nightmare,” said Hani
Things became difficult for Hani and he had to start looking for a new home and found Sojourn House where they took care of him in the Transitional Housing Program. After staying for one year and three months in Sojourn House, I knew I was ready to be
in society again. I left with confidence to fend for myself, they directed me into a good path and I also gained skills to help other newcomers.
Sojourn House Proud to protect refugees. The statistics of today shows that 235,000
Canadians experience homelessness each year.

Peter D’Gama hosts a meet-and-greet

(Toronto, ON, October 14, 2018) Peter D’gama, who is running for council in Ward 1, will host a meet-and-greet on October 19, 2018, from 12:00 pm to 02:00 pm, at Kashmir Curry and Biryani restaurant, 1530 Albion Road, Etobicoke. This is an opportunity for the constituents of Ward 1 to meet Peter D’Gama and talk about issues affecting North Etobicoke.

A better tomorrow means a better Etobicoke according to Peter D’Gama who is a prominent member of Socialist Action and a charismatic leader of Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) Canada. He is concerned about the deterioration of school buildings and lack of funding for education, opioid addiction, accessible public transit, and affordable housing for everyone.

“Imagine what we could accomplish by taxing the rich and giant corporations to fund programs such as free and accessible public transit, building and home retrofits, and a green economy creating jobs with a living wage,” says Peter D’Gama.

At Kashmir Curry and Biryani restaurant, free samosas, tea and coffee will be served. Peter D’Gama will speak at 1:00 pm. Q & A will follow.
